Hello Napa Green Community,
I hope everyone is feeling more even keel at the start of this week than we were in the wake of the shocking news on Silicon Valley Bank last week. As we’ve watched this unfold, we’ve been thinking about our members who are navigating this difficult situation. We were set to begin sending out invoices for our annual Winery and Vineyard Licensing Fees last week but we put that on pause. We will be sending out invoices this week and next, but we want to invite any members who may need more time to please reach out.
It is hard to believe that we are only 15 days away from the launch of the 2023 RISE Climate & Wine Symposium, with the inimitable Jancis Robinson, MW. February 23 – Soil Health Analysis W/Vineyard Soil Technologies

Join us to learn about how and why to sample and analyze your soil health. This workshop will be led by Nick Madden of VST (Paul Anamosa’s firm) and is focused on empowering growers to sample their soil and interpret and implement the results. We took advanced samples from the workshop site that we will interpret together, and we will have a soil pit dug on-site to investigate. March 1 – AEA Regenerative Agriculture Intensive W/John Kempf
Napa Valley College | 9 am-4 pm | Lunch is provided
Advancing Eco Agriculture is hosting a full-day intensive led by their founder, John Kempf, with presentations from Napa Green grower Ivo Jeramaz of Grgich Hills, and Greg Pennyroyal of Wilson Creek Winery. Vineyards and wineries that participate in a sustainability program in California are eligible to apply in four award categories, recognizing outstanding achievement in sustainability: Leadership Award; Environment Award, Community Award, and Business Award. At least one Napa Green member has been recognized with an award every year, including the 2022 winner of the Environment Award, Trefethen Family Vineyards.

Earth Month & Earth Day Wine Donations
As Megan Scott says, “Earth Day is our biggest holiday!” April is a time when guests, neighbors, consumers, restaurants and retailers are all extra tuned in to environmental stewardship and sustainable winegrowing. Take advantage of this month to share your sustainability story, with grounded examples and successes. In March we’ll be sharing some resources and tips for spotlighting your sustainability story on social media and other communications channels.

Day 2 of our Growing Regenerative Viticulture event was amazing!
We learned about the onsite regenerative practices from @bedrockmorgan and @j_neustadt, heard the technical side of how these practices work from @chuckschembre, learned sampling techniques from @soilrainandhope, and saw the data and insights from @sectormentor and @grape_cowboy.
